Privacy Policy

MichaelFlavin.com is my personal site. I’m Michael Flavin, and I run it myself. This page explains what the site collects when you visit or contact me, and what I do with that information. I keep it short and plain.
The contact form
If you use the form on my contact page, you give me your name, your email address and your message. When you hit send, the site emails your message to me.
I use your name and email address to read and answer your message, and nothing else. I don’t add you to a mailing list, I don’t sell your information, and I don’t share it with anyone. Your message stays in my email inbox.
Cookies
WordPress may set a few functional cookies so the site works properly. I don’t use advertising or retargeting cookies.
My host also sets a few cookies of its own (see Hosting below). If you’d rather not get cookies at all, you can block or delete them in your browser settings. The site will still work.
Analytics, ads and tracking
I don’t run analytics or tracking tools on this site. I don’t show ads, and I don’t use affiliate links here. I never sell your information.
If that changes, I’ll update this page first.
Fonts
The site loads its fonts from Google Fonts (fonts.googleapis.com and fonts.gstatic.com). When your browser loads a page, it connects to Google to get the fonts, and Google receives your IP address and browser details. Google’s privacy policy applies: https://policies.google.com/privacy
Hosting and server logs
My site is hosted on GoDaddy Managed WordPress. Like almost every host, GoDaddy keeps standard logs of requests to the site, such as your IP address, your browser type and the page you asked for. They use them to run and protect the site.
GoDaddy’s built-in tools load on every page and set a few cookies: _tccl_visitor (about a year), plus _tccl_visit and _scc_session (less than an hour). A security service in front of the site sets __cf_bm, which helps tell people from bots and expires after about 30 minutes.
SEO
I use the Yoast SEO plugin to help search engines understand my pages. It doesn’t track visitors.
Links to other sites
This site links to my other sites and to LinkedIn, X and Instagram. When you click through to another site, its own privacy policy applies.
Children
This site isn’t meant for children, and I don’t knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If I learn that a minor has sent me information, I’ll delete it.
Deleting your information
If you’d like me to delete a message you sent, ask through my contact page and I will.
Changes to this page
The date at the top of this page shows when I last updated it. If the site starts collecting something new, I’ll update the page and change that date.
